Memorable Hotels in Asia – Part IV

Body
In Parts I, II and III, I wrote about memorable hotels in Asia - in Beijing, Jakarta, and HongKong-sotobringitclosertohome,how aboutsomememorablehotelsintheUSA! We have our share here too, so don’t want to overlook ours. I traveled to Chicago numerous times – probably around 50 times, mostly for work but a few times for personal trips. The first time was fresh out of high school to work on a survey crew for an oil pipeline just east of Chicago that ran up into Michigan. Later with work as a Buyer for large companies, there were a few trips to attend the Housewares Show, but most business trips were between 1998 and today toattendtheNationalRestaurantAssociation tradeshow, workingatthedistributioncenter inWestChicagoforanotherlargecompanyas a Buyer, and other meetings. A few personal trips were for a short get-away, and this past May to attend my step-son’s graduation from Navy boot camp at Great Lakes, Illinois, just north of Chicago.

A newsy picture of Pakistani President Arif Alvi caught my eye last week. He’s administering the oath of office to his new prime minister, but it’s hard to take Alvi seriously, because he’s got reindeer horns. That’s not to mention the Viking helmet horn on the left side of his head.

Pasta shells with green peas

Body
Pasta, a creamy sauce, and green peas are a scrumptious combination to help celebrate the end of summer. The peas give this dish a fresh burst of summertime flavor, and I can’t resist a creamy pasta paired with just about any other ingredient.

Lean and tasty zucchini rollatini

Body
In a typical summer season, we would have an abundance of zucchini and other squash in our garden. However, for a couple of years we have dealt with squash bugs that have ultimately messed with our growing season. So my zucchini adventures have been few and far between lately.
