Candido Benjamin Uribe

Candido Benjamin Uribe, 72, of Benjamin, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, in a motor vehicle accident. A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Benjamin Community Center with Fred Stice and Pastor Elias Garcia officiating. Burial followed the service at the Moorhouse Ranch. Services were under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Candido Benjamin Uribe was born Feb. 2, 1951, in San Juan del Rio,Mexico and served in the Mexican Military. He was a rancher all his life. “Our dad was a hard worker and crossed the border into Texas from Mexico illegally with our mom, Isabel Uribe, and twoyear- old son, Ben, for us to have a better future.” Benjamin proudly became a U.S. citizen on Oct. 1, 2018. He worked as a farmer/cowboy for the Moorhouse ranch for over 40 years. He started working for Togo and then for Tom Moorhouse. Our dad never met a stranger, he always welcomed everyone with open arms and made them feel like family. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his friends and family and most of all he enjoyed his chickens. Benjamin made a huge impact in the world of everyone around him. He is deeply loved and already missed so much.

He is survived by his two sons Benjamin Uribe Jr.and wife Delilah of Lubbock, Louis Uribe of Lubbock; mother of his children Isabel Uribe; nephew Valentin Uribe and wife Maribel of Paducah; siblings Socorro Uribe, Isabel Uribe, Heriberto Uribe, Teresa Uribe, Florencio Uribe, Eva Uribe, Susana Uribe; the Moorhouse family; girlfriend Juana Vidales; and many other family and friends.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents Alvara Uribe Becerril and Jose Uribe Osornio.

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace (who imparts His blessing and favor), who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be]. To Him be dominion (power, authority, sovereignty) forever and ever.
