Charles W. Kirschner

Charles W. Kirschner (Charlie), 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 8, 2024. Funeral services were held at Covenant United Methodist Church in Austin, Saturday, March 2, 2024. Charles was born Dec. 21, 1944, to W.C. and Marjorie Kirschner. He graduated from Munday High School in 1962 and the University of Texas (Austin) in 1966 (computer science). Charles served in the army during the Vietnam War.

Charlie lived in Austin and was employed for many years as a computer programmer. He married the love of his life Vicki Turvey, Nov. 21, 1998. Charlie and Vicki were members of Covenant UMC, where he was a long-time member of the choir, as well as Kairos and Emmaus groups.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years Vicki; sister Barbara Fitzgerald; brother in law John Swinton (Jeannie), and son in law Doug Engler; five nieces and nephews Rachael, Angie, Joel, Aimee and Mike; as well as 10 great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.

Preceding Charlie in death are his parents; daughter Christina Engle;, brother in law Rev. Bill Fitzgerald; niece Celeste; and in laws Stan and Marilyn Swinton.
