DANNTY MAX HUDSON

Danny Max Hudson, 82, passed away April 28, 2023. A graveside service was Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Benjamin Cemetery, with Pastor Riley Carver officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Danny was born at the Knox County Hospital, Oct. 27, 1940, to G.H. (Whiz) Hudson and Nell Trimmier Hudson. Danny married Sharron (Morrison) on Dec. 23, 2001, in Benjamin, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in O’Brien. He was a cowboy all his life and worked on ranches around the area, including Cowans Ranch in Seymour, South Camp for three years, McFaddin Ranch in Benjamin for 19 years, JJ Gibson Ranch in Paducah for three years, Beavers Ranch in Benjamin for two years, Spike Box Ranch in Benjamin for two years, Y Ranch in Paducah for two years and at Banney Bradley Ranch in Stonewall County for 15 years. Danny was a true cowboy in every way. He enjoyed double mugging and roping wild cattle. He loved the ranching way of life. He could tell the best stories and enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandkids. He was lovingly called “Daddy Dan” by his grandkids.

Danny is survived by his wife Sharron Hudson of Benjamin; daughters Selina Hudson Detwiler and husband Randy of Paducah, Jana Stegemoeller and husband Dennis of Cisco, Dana Guy of Amarillo, Missy Lewis and husband Todd of Haskell, Michelle Stanfield and husband Jeff of Knox City; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brother Johnny Hudson and wife Cynthia Hudson of Pilot Point; nephew Heath Hudson and wife Nancy Hudson of Pilot Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents G.H. (Whiz) and Nell Hudson; son Nathan Pierce; and sister Belle Morris.
