Gary Keith Tidwell was born on Jan. 11, 1956 to Garon and Betty Tidwell in Lubbock. He went to his eternal home on Oct. 10, 2022 in Knox City.

Gary graduated in 1974 from Munday High School and was a proud member of the Munday Mogul football team. He attended West Texas State University where he was a member of the Phi Delta fraternity. He later completed his Bachelors Degree at Texas Tech University. He taught Ag in Crosbyton and Goree before beginning his career in farming and ranching.

Gary was a proud citizen of Munday and served as mayor for eight years. Gary’s passion was focused on cotton, whether he was farming or participating on numerous boards and associations. Gary was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Munday.

He was preceded in death by his parents Garon and Betty Tidwell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Nancy Tidwell of Munday; children Trent Tidwell and wife Lisa of Munday, Toni Tidwell of Fort Worth, Bridgett Miller and husband Rodney of Edmond, OK. and Eric Beaty and wife Dana of Fort Worth; sister Linda Urbanczyk and husband Bud; nieces Alexandria and Makenzi. Gary loved his eleven grandchildren Tivy, Rose and Colton of Munday; Lauren, Luke and Lexi of Edmond, OK., and Kaylen, Ben, Audrey, Parker and Morgan of Fort Worth.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Rhineland under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
