Herbert Thomas Cunningham, Jr., 84, passed away February 12, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by his family.

Tom was born on February 25, 1941, in Knox City, Texas, the son of Mary Ann and Herbert Cunningham. In 1960, at the young age of 19, Tom married Willa Kilgore, 18, of Benjamin, Texas. Tom and Willa became the proud parents of two sons, Brett and Brad.

Tom attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, where he graduated with a degree in agriculture. Tom enjoyed a long career spanning almost 30 years with the Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service, which took the family to several Texas towns before his retirement in San Angelo.

Tom had a lifelong love of horses and was a member of the roping club in Hereford. After retirement Tom worked at the San Angelo Gun Club, where he excelled in gun competitions. Tom was known and loved by his many friends for his congenial nature, quick wit and uninhibited sense of humor. He will be greatly missed and long remembered.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Willa; sons Brett (Tara) Cunningham of Lindale and Brad Cunningham of Amarillo; and grandchildren Sarah and Emilee.

A private service was held, followed by interment at the Benjamin cemetery.
