LLOYD DON WELCH

Lloyd Don Welch, 83 of Vernon, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023 in Wichita Falls.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 at the Seymour Church of Christ with Royce Miller officiating. Burial followed in the Gilliland Cemetery in Gilliland under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Lloyd was born on May 2, 1940 in Knox City to L.D. and Loys Allen Welch. He was raised in Vera and Gilliland, attending Gilliland schools and graduating from Munday High School. He went to Tarleton Junior College and then received a general agriculture degree from West Texas University. Lloyd worked in the Randall County tax office as a Canyon ISD tax assessor for 16 years. He moved to Munday in 1982, where he raised his children and worked in the job he loved most, as a farmer and rancher in Gilliland. After retiring from farming, he worked at the Vernon State Mental Hospital. Lloyd enjoyed traveling, gardening and wood working. He was an active member of the Lion’s Club, the Barbed Wire Collectors Association and Young Farmers of America.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents L.D. and Audrey Loys Welch.

Survivors include his two daughters Donna and Todd Daniel and Kathy and Rick Gipson; sister Wanda and Wayne Ressell; loved ones Barbara Channell and her son Bobby Channell and their families and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials to the Gilliland Cemetery Fund.
