Ruby Marie Burns, resident of Goree, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2024, at 8:10 in the Haskell Healthcare Nursing Center. Ruby was born on Jan. 12, 1935 to Verna and Neva Merrifield in Sayre, OK. She married Tuffy Burns and together they had eight children. They raised two boys and five girls. They were married for 66 years before Tuffy died in 2012.
Ruby loved working in the yard and quilting.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one sister and one brother.
She is survived by two sisters; one brother; sons Lonnie and wife Renee of Leander, Bill and wife Virginia of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters Rena Booze and husband Glenn of Thomas, OK, Rickie Myers and husband Rocky of Rochester, Mickie Asmus of Joplin, MO, Vickie Huffman and husband Glenn of Goree, Joni Smith and husband Willie of Erick, OK; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the care of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
