THERESA BRUGGEMAN

Theresa Hedwig (Hannig) Bruggeman, 98, of Rhineland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 4. She was born Nov. 7, 1924 in Munday, to Clodwig and Alma Hannig.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Mother’s Society and was always a willing volunteer. Theresa enjoyed many hobbies during her life including gardening, fishing, quilting, cooking and baking. She was known for her beautiful flowers, her quilts and her chocolate chip, and sugar cookies. Theresa also enjoyed playing jy py dominos and scrabble and was very good at both. She was a lady full of energy and loved taking care of everyone. She never met a stranger and had an amazing memory. She kept up with all her relatives, knowing all their birthdays and sending each of them a card. Theresa truly loved her family and loved spending time with them.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband Philip H. Bruggeman, Jr.; grandson Caden Glass; sisters Martha Childers, Dolores Cherry and Bertha Hannig; and brother Francis Hannig.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons Quentin Bruggeman and wife Ellen, Terence Bruggeman and Deryl Bruggeman and wife Ann; daughters Diana Emerson and husband Dwight, Carolyn Peterson and husband Dale, Judy Whitfield and husband Ken, Nelda Bruggeman, Brenda Castillo and husband Henry and Melinda Haynes and husband Jack; 13 grandchildren Debbie Willett and husband Michael, Daren Emerson and wife Krista, Kim Fisher and husband Terry, Doug Peterson and wife Elizabeth, Jennifer Caldwell,Tammie Glass and husband Jason, Jimmie Bruggeman and wife Traci, Pamela Loggains, Heather Godsey, Elaina Bullis, Logan Castillo and wife Laura, Ellese Castillo, Bradley Haynes and Colby Haynes; 20 great-grandchildren Kara Doucett and husband Cory, Justin Willett, Joshua Emerson and wife Haleigh, Ashley Fisher, Wesley Fisher, Emma Grace Peterson, Alex Peterson, William Peterson, Shelby Whitfield, Kylie Caldwell, Hailey Glass, Madeline Glass, Julie Bruggeman, Josh Bruggeman, Emery Loggains, Lillian Castillo, Lainey Castillo, Elizabeth Haynes and Reagan Haynes; her four great-great- grandchildren Zander Emerson, Nora Kay Emerson, Kate Emerson and Luca Doucett; also several nephews and cousins.

A Rosary was held Sunday, April 9, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was Monday, April 10, 2023 also at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
