Timmy (Tim) Joe Jones joined the Kingdom of Heaven on Nov. 22, 2022. Tim blessed this earth with his presence for 76 years. He was born June 6, 1946 in Stamford. He was the second of three sons of Elvin “Windy” Jones and Dee Iva Starritt Jones. Tim was raised on ranches in King and S tonewall Counties where his dad worked, including the South Camp of the 6666 Ranch and the Baptist Foundation of the Moorhouse Ranch in northeast Stonewall County.

Tim graduated from Aspermont High School in 1965 and was Mr. AHS his senior year. After high school, Tim attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, worked for the Pitchfork Ranch near Guthrie, and worked for General Dynamics in Fort Worth where he helped build F-111 fighter airplanes.

On Dec. 23, 1970, Tim married Linda Cheyne in Clovis, NM and settled in Aspermont where he drove heavy equipment for M.L. Jones. He later worked for the Bill Wilson Ranches near Lueders, Grimmitt Brothers Construction in Snyder, and then for Bill Walton on the Mayfield Ranch north of Aspermont. He then was able to go back and work on the ranch where he was raised in Stonewall County for the Moorhouse Ranch. After working for the Springer Ranch in King County, Tim and Linda moved to the Davis Mountains near Fort Davis where he worked for the McCoy Ranches for 10 years, including working at the Rockpile Ranch beneath Sawtooth Mountain where both his dad and his brother Ned had previously worked. In 2011, Tim retired from full-time ranching and he and Linda settled in Benjamin.

He was a caring husband, devoted father, supportive father-inlaw, and a fun and loving grandfather. Tim loved to read and study about Western and Native- American history and was an avid arrowhead hunter and collector. He loved talking to old friends and new acquaintances. He also served his community as a member of the Aspermont ISD School Board.

Tim is survived by his wife of 51 years Linda Jones of Benjamin; two sons and wives, Bradley Joe and Stacy of Lazbuddie and Tye Ross and Jenny of Benjamin; grandchildren Allie Jones of Abilene, Ethan Jones of Cross Plains, Cedar Jones of Cross Plains, TyAnn Jones of Bridgeport, Ben Jones of Benjamin, and Jettie Jones of Benjamin; brother and sister-in law Ned and Susan Jones of Benjamin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elvin and Dee Iva Jones and brother Eddie Jones.

Services were held Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Benjamin Ex-Students Memorial Building followed by the graveside service at the Benjamin Cemetery.

Tim’s legacy of kindness, determination, and love of family and friends will live on with his children and grandchildren and everyone whose life he has touched.
